Enter the YA-Adult 2020 #Schenectadyreads Summer Reading Challenge!
The goal of this challenge is to cover all the squares by the end of the summer with titles from the 2020 #SchenectadyReads Book Mobile, using the following prompts: Racially/Ethnically Diverse: The Main character is a Person of Color (Black, LatinX, Guyanese, Asian etc.)
Religiously diverse: Main characters follow or have a background in a religion other than Christianity.
LGBTQIA+ diverse: Main Character identifies as something other than Straight. This could be, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, Pansexual, or the character is figuring it, and the character is important to the story
Ability diverse: These characters are differently abled. These can be physical, mental, or emotional (Wheelchair, Anxiety, depression, ADHD, etc.)
Own Voices (Authors): “Own voices” means the writer is part of the marginalized group they are writing about. So if the Main Character is Black, the writer is Black. If the Main Character is Queer so is the Author.
